Transforming Infrastructure with Private Cloud

Client Background

One of the world’s largest banks recognized the significant benefits of cloud computing. Given the volume of sensitive customer data it handled, the bank sought a structured, seamless, and secure migration to a private cloud environment across its six data centers and various lab setups.

Challenges Faced

With the critical nature of financial information, the bank encountered several technical challenges during the migration, including:

  • Migrating applications dependent on complex database management systems.
  • Addressing performance issues related to applications that processed large messages.
  • Ensuring effective monitoring of the migration process.

Attempts to manage the migration internally revealed additional hurdles, such as cumbersome manual workflows, a lack of structured methodology, and reluctance from line-of-business team to engage in the transformation initiative.

Project Overview

The bank aimed to reduce costs by creating a private cloud, and we stepped in to facilitate this ambitious project. Our team helped the bank securely migrate over 800 applications, resulting in a reduced total cost of infrastructure ownership and a more flexible IT setup that enhanced time to market.

 Outcomes
  • Successfully migrated more than 100 applications to the private cloud.
  • Increased productivity by 25% through the implementation of a migration tracker system, which improved task visibility.
  • Reduced infrastructure footprint by 25%, contributing to lower overall ownership costs.

Approach and Solutions

To ensure the successful completion of the migration, we deployed over 20 experts and adopted an agile scrum methodology that fostered structured communication between on-site and offshore teams. This approach provided clear visibility into ongoing work.

Utilizing automation throughout the project, we quickly migrated legacy applications under predefined standards. We implemented a security governance framework through automation scripts, automated infrastructure provisioning, and a comprehensive migration methodology. This allowed our team to conduct application assessments and migrations in parallel, successfully moving over 100 applications in just two year.

Results Achieved

Our collaborative efforts enabled the bank to host its applications on a scalable, standardized, secure, and highly available cloud architecture. This transition has allowed the bank to accelerate application ramp-up, delivering products to market faster while minimizing application and infrastructure footprints. The result was significant operational cost saving.

Despite the complexity of a multi-vendor project, the bank recognized TribolaTech for our exceptional contributions and the team spirit we demonstrated throughout the engagement.
